Members can apply to join the ADMP Register of Supervisors either be successfully completing an ADMP accredited training course or by  a successful application through the alternative route. See below


Application Guidelines  for the Alternative Route to the Supervision Register

Council very strongly recommends that all applicants should have completed a further two years of personal therapy, post qualification.

The Alternative Route Application Form requires demonstration and completion and evidence of the following:

1. Applicants must have been in practicing membership for three years before joining the register. This does not preclude members from undertaking training alongside their three years practice.

2. Applicants must have completed a recognised course of a minimum of ninety hours containing the elements: 

a. Current supervision literature:  models, skills and research

b. Ethical and legal issues in supervision

c. Supervision contracts, boundaries and documentation

d. Identify and evaluate issues in the therapist-client and

supervisor-therapist-client relationship

e. Cultural, gender, ethnicity, socioeconomic and power issues in therapy and supervision

f. Dynamics in individual and group supervision

3.  The course should also involve:

a. Probationary supervision practice, minimum fifteen hours

b. One to one supervision of their probationary practice, minimum fifteen hours

4. Completed an ADMP approved module on specific DMT skills and body awareness in supervision of fifteen hours. This should include:

a. Models for engaging the body and dance movement within supervision.

b. Bodily engagement with movement observation.

c. DMP and neuroscientific research.

d. Somatic counter/transference.

e. Ethical dimensions of somatic engagement.

 

5. Process of application:

Note: A non-dmt supervisory training is one provided by or approved by United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, British Association of Art Therapists, British Association of Dramatherapists, British Society for Music Therapy, Association of Professional Music Therapists, or other senior clinical professional organisations with suitable skills and qualifications to provide training as a supervisor.

Those members who have already completed a non-dmt recognised supervision course will be required to

a. Produce proof of successful completion of their course

 b. Provide a breakdown of the syllabus of their course which shows that the training meets all the elements listed 2 & 3 above.

 c. Provide a certificate showing that they have successfully completed a separate, specific dmt supervision training to be provided by ADMP.

 d. Provide a statement of support from their supervisor.

e. P ay a fee of £125


f.
Applications, after being checked by the administrator, will be processed by the Professional Development Committee.

 g. There may be the possibility that an interview to clarify any outstanding matters may be required. This will involve an addition cost of £125
